Happy Homemaking Monday - October 16, 2017

Greetings, Sweet Ladies! And HAPPY MONDAY!

This was the one day that I knew that I could sleep in this week and I woke up earlier than I normally would if I had to go to work. I couldn't go back to sleep so I got up with big plans on my agenda. Plans that included writing this post and getting it out early. Needless to say, it didn't happen. It's been go, go, go from the get-go and, here I am, going into evening and just now getting around to sitting down to write.

So how have you been? Did you have a nice weekend?

The weather...

We had quite a bit of rain over the weekend and the overnight low last night was quite cool (around 40 degrees). Right now it's 67 degrees and sunny and the rest of the week is supposed to be fairly nice with highs in the 70's and lows in the 40's and 50's. I like it! 🌞

Right now I am...

Having a cup of tea, working on this post, and thinking about making supper.

On my reading pile...

Nothing at the moment. Still just trying to finish up that last unit on my Bible classes.

On the menu this week....

Since being on (or attempting to be on) Trim Healthy Mama, I've not been buying potatoes, but we've been blessed with 100 pounds of them week and we are very thankful for them. I've shared several 10 pound bags with others and still have more than enough potatoes for John and I, so lunches and suppers this week will feature potatoes fixed in a variety of ways including soups and casseroles.

- Monday - Chili dogs and baked potatoes
- Tuesday - Chicken cacciatore over sauteed zucchini
- Wednesday - Salmon, Oven Roasted Potatoes and Bell Peppers

- Thursday - Homemade pizza
- Friday - Sausage, eggs, fried potatoes, and toast
- Saturday - Picnic supper with the family at the corn maze
- Sunday - Ojibwa baked pumpkin, corn chowder, and Indian fry bread

On my to do list....

- Monday - Take grandson out for lunch in celebration of his birthday, complete my weekly "home blessing", do laundry
- Tuesday - Picking up a mushroom trunk for work
- Wednesday - Morning and afternoon preschool programs on spiders and their webs at the local library
- Thursday - My daughter and I are meeting a friend for lunch in Joplin
- Friday - Work (program on mushrooms)
- Saturday - Work, visit a corn maze with our children and their families
- Sunday - Church

In the craft basket...

Am making these for upcoming preschool programs at the local library...
Spider Web Pretzel Treats
Looking forward to this week...

Having lunch with my daughter and my friend, Laura, of Harvest Lane Cottage in Joplin. Laura is battling breast cancer and is having surgery on Friday. Prayers her direction would be much appreciated. Thank you! 💗

From the camera...
My oldest daughter and her children on a ledge
overlooking the Bethany Falls Trail at Burr Oak
Woods in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Scripture Passage...

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand" (Psalm 37:22-23)

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have had a glorious Monday and a blessed week ahead!
Until next time...
~Rebecca

  1. I do that all the time, on Saturday and Sunday when I KNOW I can sleep in, I'm up early just like during the week, it's quite irritating hahaha

Love the spider web pretzels, what a great idea.

    1. Thanks, Sandra! I'm working on those spider web pretzels right now, but I'm doing mine a little bit different than the ones pictured. I will try to get pics and post them later. Blessings! <3

  3. Those spider web snacks look like they would be a fun (and tasty) Halloween treat as well. We had the big storm (not so bad here, up north took the brunt of it all) move through on Saturday night but the weather has been dare I say perfect (for fall) ever since! Hope your preschool program goes well today & the rest of your week is great!

    1. The program was a big success today, Jean, and the children loved the spider web treats (by the way, I just wrote a whole post about it) and yes! Perfect fall weather! I'm loving it! Have a great rest of the week! :)
