Happy Homemaker Monday - October 28, 2019

Greetings, Dear Readers! Happy Monday!! 💗

Can you believe that this is the last Monday of October? Time just keeps marching onward and, here we are! Christmas is less than two months away! 😲

This popped up in my news-feed on the 25th. I love
that Kansas City skyline in the background! 💗
I trust that you and yours had a great week and weekend. On the home-front here, my "quieter, less-busy week at home" turned out to be much busier than anticipated and not a single day was spent at home.

Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday were spent running errands and taking care of business; Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were spent working. Friday and Saturday were normal work days, Tuesday was the bison auction, and Sunday was the last Sunday of the season (we are closed on Sundays from November 1st through March 31st). I am so thankful!

This picture popped up in my memories on Facebook. I'm
not sure where it came from, but I do like it very much.

I accomplished very little on the home-front, but other things got done that needed doing this week. The work on my car, for example...an oil change, new brakes, and I now have a working heater (went all last winter without one). 🥶 There are still a couple of things that need done, but they will come later. For now we are in good shape for winter travel, which was our immediate concern.

I'm running short on time this morning, so enough about last week. Let's jump ahead to this week, shall we?

Please join me as I link up with Sandra of Diary of a Stay At Home Mom and all the other lovely ladies that gather there on this week's Happy Homemaker Monday! 💗
Right now I am...

... Enjoying a cup of hot tea as I contemplate the week ahead and work on this post.

On the breakfast plate...

... Eggs, toast, and hot tea

The weather...

... Right now it's 44 degrees with a windchill of 38. The next few days look a bit nippy, but it looks like warmer temperatures will prevail towards week's end.

Looks, too, like an impromptu frost flower hike might be on tap for early Thursday morning. We shall see!

On the menu this week...

Monday - ?
Tuesday - ?
Wednesday - Turkey burgers, mashed sweet potatoes, and fried apples
Thursday - Turkey and wild rice soup with homemade bread
Friday - Chili and cornbread
Saturday - Dh's night to cook
Sunday - Leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

I stayed up late last night doing laundry and my "Weekly Home Blessing" so that things could be done a little different this week.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be spent taking a much needed break from the norm and enjoying some self-imposed time off.

- Thursday - Figure November budget and bills, make bison chili to serve at National Bison Day on Saturday, carve a pumpkin, pass out tracts and candy to trick-or-treaters
- Friday - Work
- Saturday - Work; reset clocks before bed
- Sunday - Church

In the craft basket...

... Keeping up with the temperature afghan. The gold yarn that I was waiting on arrived, so I can continue on with my project now.

We were surprised the other day to see a cow grazing across the way. It had evidently escaped from somewhere else and decided that the grass was greener on our neighbor across the street's property.

Happy Homemaker Monday - October 21, 2019

Greetings, Dear Readers! And HAPPY MONDAY! 💗

I trust that you and yours had a lovely week and weekend. Ours was good here and extremely blessed!

My Newest Mum
Tuesday was spent cooking, baking, and preparing for library programs on Wednesday. I also got together with my BFFF on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate her birthday

The Spider Web Pretzel Treats Made
For Wednesday's Library Programs
I worked Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Wednesday evening we attended a wedding vow renewal ceremony and Saturday evening we met our children and grands at the corn maze for an evening of fun and fellowship as a family. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time! 🌽

On Thursday I took grandson, T.J. out to lunch and ice cream for his birthday. While there we visited Miners Memorial Park in Pittsburg, Kansas. Being as my grandfather and father-in-law were both coal miners I found it very interesting and quite sobering.

Okay...so...enough about last week! Let's get started on this week, shall we?

Please join me as I link up with Sandra of Diary of a Stay At Home Mom and all the other lovely ladies that gather there on this week's Happy Homemaker Monday! 💗

Right now I am...

... finishing up breakfast and enjoying a cup of hot tea while I work on this post.

On the breakfast plate...

... fat-free turkey slices, Laughing Cow cheese wedge, and egg on toast with a cup of Pumpkin Spice tea.

The weather...

... Yesterday was gorgeous...75 degrees and sunny. Then, a cold front pushed through last night and we had severe storms and was under a tornado watch until 5:00 this morning. At present it is 49 degrees and sunny and the week ahead doesn't look bad at all.

Wednesday - Turkey and wild rice soup with homemade bread
Thursday - Meatloaf, oven roasted vegetables, and homemade bread
Friday - Broiled salmon fillets, baked sweet potatoes, and green beans
Saturday - Dh's night to cook
Sunday - Leftovers

Have shared it before, but am sharing the recipe for my favorite autumn muffins again!

Pumpkin Streusel Muffins

PUMPKIN STREUSEL MUFFINS

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1  teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/3 cup oil
1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese cut into 12 cubes

    Streusel:

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon cold butter or margarine

In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients. In another bowl, beat the egg; add milk, pumpkin and  oil. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.

Fill 12 greased or paper-lined muffin cups half full. Place a cream cheese cube in the center of each. Top with remaining batter.

For the streusel, combine brown sugar, pecans and cinnamon in a small bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter.

Bake at 400 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until muffins test done. Cool for  5 minutes before  removing from pan to wire rack.

Yield:  1 dozen.

On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - HHM post, weekly home blessing, laundry, plan the week ahead, bake bread, take car to the auto mechanic for its annual check-up; pack up summer clothes and exchange for winter
- Tuesday - Work (bison auction)
- Wednesday - Take a friend to her hair appointment
- Thursday - Pick up my car from the auto mechanic; take a family member grocery shopping
- Friday - Work
- Saturday - Work
(nature bingo)
- Sunday - Church, work in the afternoon (the last Sunday of our summer season; won't have anymore until April! YEAH!!!) 😄

In the craft basket...

... Just trying to keep up with the temperature afghan. Ran out of gold thread and had to order more. Am waiting for it to arrive so I can continue.

Tuesday 4 Meme - Autumn This Or That

Greetings, Dear Friends!

It's time for another Tuesday 4 Meme! Here are Toni's questions for the week with my answers
following...

Autumn This Or That

1. Pumpkin Carving or Apple Picking?

BOTH!!! 🎃🍎

No photo description available.
Carved Pumpkin 2013
2. Yankee Candles or Roaring Fireplace?

I wish Yankee (but probably not), but definitely candles...yes! (I'd save the fireplace for Christmas!)

3. Hot Chocolate or Apple Cider?

Apple Cider (but it's GOT to be Louisburg!)

4. Pumpkin Pie or Apple Pie?

At the moment I'd take either one! They both sound delicious! 🧡😋🧡

Until next time...
