Extreme Heat and A Call to Prayer

"Extreme heat is sweeping the country right now with many areas of the U.S. facing temperatures that could feel like 115 degrees with heat and humidity on Tuesday.

As temperatures are heating up from coast to coast, 60 million people are expected to face temperatures in the triple digits in the coming days.

"We have never put a forecast out quite like this," reporter chief meteorologist Travis Herzog on KTRK-TV Houston.
For the first time ever, the Houston forecast predicts 10 days straight of 100 degrees or higher temperatures, and Dallas is on track to break heat records.

"We'll be up around 108, 109, and the record high as it stands 110," said Meteorologist Greg Fields of WFAA Dallas.

Texans are being asked to conserve electricity and water with looming concerns over the power grid's ability to handle the high demand during the high heat."

I'm seeing a lot of reports like this one from CBN and the situation is getting serious. As if things aren't bad enough already (skyrocketing food and fuel prices and the economy in general), if the areas of the U.S.A. that need rain don't get it soon, we are all going to be in trouble in the way of even higher food prices, food shortages, and things that most of us cannot even imagine at this point.

I am asking every single born-again Christian reading this post right now to stop and earnestly pray for rain and a break in these extreme temperatures. Pray over those that have to be out in it (people and animals alike) and do what you can to alleviate suffering in your immediate area. Purchase an extra case or two of bottled water and offer a bottle to those you see along the way that are out working in the heat. Put out fresh water daily for the birds and other animals that pass through your yard or neighborhood.

Call and check on elderly neighbors and, if you know of someone that doesn't have a fan or air-conditioning, do what you can to help. If you can't help, contact someone who can (area churches, housing and utility agencies, law enforcement, etc.) Someone out there will know how to contact the proper people to get help to those in need. Things are getting crazy out there, folks! It's time to come together and start looking out for one another again.

Until next time...

National Day of Prayer

President Donald J. Trump has declared today, March 15, 2020, as a National Day of Prayer.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the fear and mass hysteria that is accompanying it, we lift our voices together with others across our nation and around the world as they pray, and intercede, on behalf of all that is happening.

This morning I lift you, my dear readers, as well as your family, and all those within your sphere of influence, before the throne of grace and am praying health, healing, and peace over all.

Dear Heavenly Father,

This morning I lift before You every subscriber and reader of this blog. In the wake of this COVID-19 pandemic, Father, I plead the Blood of Jesus over each and every one of them...over their homes, their families, and every other person that they come into contact with...their extended families, their church families, their co-workers, those that work within the stores and establishments that they frequent, and anyone else whose life they touch or that touches theirs.

Lord, I lift these dear ones before you this morning and I ask that you keep them safe. Give them peace, Father...Your peace...and help them not to panic in the face of adversity. Give them wisdom and insight as to how to deal with any troubles that they may be facing right now. Help them to press into You.

Lord God, this morning we lift up our nation before You...not only our nation, Father, but every nation around the world that is dealing with this pandemic. Father God, we ask that You stop it in it's tracks and help those that have it. We pray health and healing over them and we pray protection over all them that they have come into contact with. And, Lord, we lift up the grieving families of those who, sadly have already died from being exposed to COVID-19.

Lord, help us in these tough times. Be with us, guide us, and direct us. Turn our hearts towards You and help us to know and remember that You are all that we truly need. Give us a burning desire to seek You in all that we do and say, and help us to stay in your Word. And, Father, if there's one here today that doesn't know You, Lord, I pray that You would minister to that one right where they are. Convict them, Lord, of their need of a Saviour and help them to come to the saving knowledge of having a personal relationship with Your Son, Jesus. Help us, Father! Guide us in these trying times and help us to come out the other side of this thing closer to You, and more in touch with the reality of what matters and what doesn't, than ever before.

Father God, I lift up President Trump, Vice-President Pence, our elected officials at every level (federal, state, and local), and all others that are in authority in our nation and in nations around the globe that are dealing, not only with this situation, but others that are of great importance at this time in the history of our world. I pray Your wisdom down upon them, Lord, as they make decisions. Open their eyes, Father God! Cause them to fall on their faces and seek You in all things. Help them to truly do that which is best for the people and I pray that all that is done secret to discredit, disrupt, and interfere would be exposed to the light and be brought to naught.

Save us, O Lord! Shed Your grace and Your mercy upon us and help us to move forward in the days ahead, stronger in our faith, and closer to You than ever before!

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen!

If you have something that you would like me to join you in prayer over, please, feel free to email your request to me at proverbs31heart@yahoo.com. Please put PRAYER REQUEST on the subject line so that I don't miss it. Thanks!

Until next time,
~Rebecca

Peaceful Sleep

When I was a child I was desperately afraid of the dark and nighttime. I struggled with it well into my early 40's...not always, but sometimes. But then I discovered this verse of scripture in the Bible and, after memorizing it and speaking it out loud when the spirit of fear assailed me in the night hours, I've never been afraid of the night since. In fact, I welcome it!

Someone posted this picture on Facebook this morning and I wanted to share it with those of you, who, like me, have struggled in this area of fear....and, I want to tell you...fear not! God made the night and all that is in it. In reality, there is nothing there at night that isn't there in the daytime.

I pray that the Lord would bless those who fear the night and that He would commune with them in the wee hours of the late night/early morning and help them to discover the beauty and wonder of all His creation, and, when they lay down at night to sleep, I pray that they would take this verse as their own, and that their sleep would be peaceful...In Jesus' name!

"When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet" (Proverbs 3:24).

Have a blessed day!

Holiday Depression

During the Christmas season I often hear from women who are suffering (some severely) from the effects of holiday depression. I'd like to ask you to join with me and as we pray...one for another...during this holiday season, let us join hearts and combat those feelings of depression through prayer, fasting, and praise. Let us, together, trust the Lord to turn those feelings of depression around and help us to overcome the enemy that seeks to undo and destroy us, using all for the glory of God and His purposes as an example and aid to others. Let us allow the Lord Himself to permeate our thought processes and give us creative ideas to share with others during this holiday season...even when the funds are low. He will do it! Will you join me in this?

Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to You right now, in the name of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ, and, Lord, I lift up all of precious women who are reading this before You. Lord God, we praise You and we thank You for sending Your Son to die for us. And we thank You, Lord, and praise You for putting us in the awesome position that You have placed us in, those of us who are married and privileged to be our husband's partner and helper in life, as well as those of us who are single and still searching, those that are widowed, those of us who are moms, and those of us who are not. Help us to remember, Father God, that without Christ's birth, there would have been no death...no resurrection. Help us to remember, Lord, that as we stand as examples before our families and friends this holiday season, that Christmas celebrates Christ's birth...not ours. Father God, I pray health and healing into the women who are reading this this morning...physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Lord God, as this holiday season rapidly approaches, help us to overcome feelings of depression, inability, and inadequacy. Help us to realize that nothing comes to us or happens to us without first being filtered through Your loving fingers. Help us to receive all that You provide for us with thanksgiving and gladness and help us to use that which You have given us for Your glory and Your purposes...knowing that You make no mistakes in our lives. Father God, endow us with Your creative thought processes. Help us not to get caught up in the world's commercialism and help us to make the most of all that You have given us. Help us to share those good things that You have given us with others in new and interesting ways, Father. Ways that will speak to them of You and Your goodness...not of us. Father God, I pray a special blessing down upon each and every woman within the walls of this community...over her...her spouse...her family...her home...and her church. Lord God, use us to further Your work in word and deed this holiday season in a way that is glorifying and pleasing to You. In Jesus' holy and precious name I ask it. Amen!

Love and Christmas ((((Hugs)))),

Praise! Praise! Praise!

We just got back from the hospital and we bring good news! Shannen is doing much better and is progressing rapidly! In fact, the doctor was impressed with how much progress he has made just today and announced that they are expecting a full recovery! (Thank You, Jesus!!!) Shannen still has a ways to go, so please keep the prayers on his behalf coming, and, please, join us as we lift up praise to our Heavenly Father and give Him all honor, glory, and praise! Thank you all so much for praying over Shannen!

Calling All Prayer Warriors

I have an urgent call to prayer for Shannen Evans. Shannen is one of the young man in our church, the son of my closest friend, and one of my youngest son's best friends. Shannen was life-flighted to the hospital Sunday night due to injuries sustained following an artillery shell explosion near his head. Please pray the Lord's hand of healing down over him and stand with us in agreement as we believe for a full and rapid recovery in Jesus' name! Thanks so much!

An Urgent Call To Prayer

Please be in prayer for the people of Joplin, Missouri. They were hit by an F4 tornado late this afternoon and 1/3 of the city was destroyed. I don't know any numbers yet, but know that many lives have been taken and many others are missing. Please be in prayer for emergency workers, as well, as they sift through the rubble, treat the injured, and help those in need. Joplin is 38 miles south of us and our hearts are breaking for these dear people. Have a couple of friends that have family members that they can't locate, as well as friends and acquaintances of our own that we have no word on yet. Please pray. Thanks so much!
