Hard Times Ahead?

I've shared the story before...growing up, my lifestyle was very different from that of my friends. My parents were very into self-sufficiency...wind generators, solar heat, wood heat, gardening, canning, grind your own grain, chickens, goats...the whole nine yards. It was kind of like growing up on a 1960's/70's commune without the commune. BUT...all the things that I learned growing up have come in handy at one point or another throughout my lifetime and I'm thankful. I wouldn't change that upbringing for anything in the world now.

My dad was a visionary. In looking back, even though they're both gone now, I think that many of the things that he and my mother saw, and prepared for, back then (and instilled in anyone who was willing to listen), were more for the times in which we're living now, than it was for back then. Although there wasn't anything big or fancy about the way we lived, all that commune-type living paid off big-time during the late-1970's and early-80's when our nation was plunged into economic hard times under the failed leadership of Jimmy Carter (an energy crises followed by a recession), and I believe that there's a good chance that some of what my parents taught me back then is going to come into play in the days ahead.

Much of what we're experiencing today under the leadership of Joe Biden resounds with what we were experiencing back then...bad news on every front, record inflation, exorbitant food and fuel prices, food and product shortages, and the list goes on and on.

In the midst of hard times, ultimately, it is God, Himself, that sustains and delivers us, and the only way a person is going to make it in the end is by having a real and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and sustaining it through prayer and the careful, daily study of the Holy Scriptures (the Bible)...BUT...also in the midst of hard times there are many practical things that we can do and, in the days ahead, it is my goal to share some of those things with you here.

In order to get an idea of where I want to go with this I'd like to start by asking...

...in what areas are you and your family struggling the most right now?

...what adjustments have you had to make in order to just make ends meet?

...in the midst of hard times what are you most thankful for?

You can share your answers in the comment section below or you can email them to me privately at proverbs31heart@yahoo.com. Please put HARD TIMES in the subject line.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Until next times...

Feeling Like You're Surrounded By The Servants of Darkness?

When you feel surrounded by the servants of darkness, remember the story of Elisha and his servant...

"And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master, how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha" (2 Kings 6:15-17).
Our God...the same...yesterday, today, and forever!

Until next time,

Encouragement in Times of Trouble

Greetings, Dear Ones,

I just posted this on Facebook earlier and, with the way that they are manipulating and pulling stuff down, I decided to repost it here on my blog for safe-keeping. Hopefully, it will be of encouragement to others out there.

Warning...it is long and rambling.

Many people have expressed sadness, depression, discouragement, and a whole host of other emotions and feelings today. To them I say...
First and foremost, as much as I love and respect the man for all he's tried to do for us as a nation, President Donald J. Trump was not, is not, never has been, nor ever will be, our Savior. Jesus Christ is and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Nothing is going on that has not first been filtered through God's fingers and He is still on the throne, still in control, and still wins in the end...no matter whose in office or what's going on.
Secondly, I addressed a friend earlier and, for others that might be feeling some of the same things she was, I'm going to share some of what I said to her here.
In response to part of a conversation that was taking place, I responded with...
"...God is still on the throne and is still in the mix and this isn't over! This isn't about Trump and Biden! This is a spiritual battle...a major end-time battle between good and evil of Biblical proportion! It's a major end time battle that is taking place just before the soon return of Jesus Christ! It is Matthew 24 being played out before our very eyes and we have been hand-selected by God for such a time as this! This is where we dig into the Word! We find those promises that apply and we stand on them! We pray and we stay engaged! We keep pressing forward and get busy about the Lord's work...doing whatever we can and whatever He calls us to within our own spheres of influence. We stay on top of our politicians! We pray for them, contact them regularly, and encourage them to do the right thing...and, if they don't...we vote them out next time! Stay in tune to the Word! As we wade into unchartered waters the Holy Spirit will continue to lead, guide, and direct God's people. This isn't over until God says it's over and His leading has been quite clear up until now. I'm absolutely sure that He's not going to leave us hanging. Stand strong, don't be discouraged, and don't get over into fear. God's got this and we are going to see some amazing things in the days to come!"
In addition to this, I said...
...Things aren't as bad as they want us to think. Now...shake off the battle dust, pull yourself up by the bootstraps (combat boots, that is), straighten those shoulders, get that chin up, wipe away the tears, and resign yourself to keep right on marching no matter what!"
Then I added...
(Rebecca starts singing...Onward Christian soldier...marching as to war...with the cross of Jesus...going on before..."...her voice trails off as she, herself, marches wearily on.. tattered U.S. flag in hand...over the hill and out of sight)
Born-again Believers, we are Christians first, then patriots. Our allegiance is to God first, then to our country. Both are important.
Everyone is asking...now what do we do? Do all of the above. Get off the secular media where they are only telling you what they want you to hear and tune in to Victory's AMERICA STANDS and FLASHPOINT programs. It's the only place that we're getting truthful news as it unfolds. It's incredible how much the mainstream and social media groups are leaving out, manipulating, and twisting to keep Americans blinded and in chaos and, sadly, most of them don't even realize that they're being played. What's even sadder is, that most of them don't care that they're being played or even want to know they truth. They are happy just as they are...deceived and being deceived. It breaks my heart. Pray for them. Pray that their eyes and ears would be opened to the truth before it's too late!
Lastly, I want to encourage you to get involved. As Krisanne Hall said earlier on VICTORY...the office of president isn't where the power is. It starts at the local level and that is where we need to be.
I'm going to go a step further and say this...government begins in the home...then in the church...then at the local level...city, then state, then federal. We need to be cutting this stuff off at the root!
Listen people, it's time to get your own house in order and get involved in a GOOD Bible-believing church. There are a lot of churches out there, but, sadly, most of them are not Bible-believing and, many of them that claim to be, pick and choose the verses that back their own twisted view and refuse the whole council of scripture taken in context. This is NOT how it should be!
After that, get involved in your local government...city, county, and state...and stay involved! THIS is where the power is! It starts at the bottom and works its way up! If local guys and gals aren't carrying out their duties in a way that aligns with scripture...get them out of there!!! PERIOD! And get somebody in there that will!!!
I'm just rambling now and am going to stop. The whole point of this message is...don't be discouraged...don't be depressed...don't give into fear! Get up, get going, and keep going! God is still in the mix and, through Him, victory is ours...no matter how bad things look!

Until next time,
~Rebecca

"To Every Thing There Is A Season..."

Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us that "to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." And, oh, what a season we find ourselves in...individually, as families, as a nation, and as a global community.

As for the ultimate purpose in all of this, I won't pretend to know the mind of God, and I can't speak for anybody but myself, but I do know that God's Word is truth and His Word tells us that "...all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purposes" (Romans 8:28), so I have to believe that, whatever His purposes are in all of this, I have to trust Him.

For many, these are tough times. Many are depressed and discouraged. For many, fear prevails where there is no faith and, sadly, where there is no faith, there is no hope.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

For those that are willing to receive Him, Jesus is there. He loves you. He died for you. If you don't know Him, ask Him into your heart. Ask Him to make Himself real to you today. If you want or need help in doing that, feel free to message me. I am here for you and I am praying over you right now.

Yes, "to every thing there is a season" but this, too, shall pass. Don't let this season that you find yourself in right now pass without making the most important decision of your life.

Until next time...

National Day of Prayer

President Donald J. Trump has declared today, March 15, 2020, as a National Day of Prayer.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the fear and mass hysteria that is accompanying it, we lift our voices together with others across our nation and around the world as they pray, and intercede, on behalf of all that is happening.

This morning I lift you, my dear readers, as well as your family, and all those within your sphere of influence, before the throne of grace and am praying health, healing, and peace over all.

Dear Heavenly Father,

This morning I lift before You every subscriber and reader of this blog. In the wake of this COVID-19 pandemic, Father, I plead the Blood of Jesus over each and every one of them...over their homes, their families, and every other person that they come into contact with...their extended families, their church families, their co-workers, those that work within the stores and establishments that they frequent, and anyone else whose life they touch or that touches theirs.

Lord, I lift these dear ones before you this morning and I ask that you keep them safe. Give them peace, Father...Your peace...and help them not to panic in the face of adversity. Give them wisdom and insight as to how to deal with any troubles that they may be facing right now. Help them to press into You.

Lord God, this morning we lift up our nation before You...not only our nation, Father, but every nation around the world that is dealing with this pandemic. Father God, we ask that You stop it in it's tracks and help those that have it. We pray health and healing over them and we pray protection over all them that they have come into contact with. And, Lord, we lift up the grieving families of those who, sadly have already died from being exposed to COVID-19.

Lord, help us in these tough times. Be with us, guide us, and direct us. Turn our hearts towards You and help us to know and remember that You are all that we truly need. Give us a burning desire to seek You in all that we do and say, and help us to stay in your Word. And, Father, if there's one here today that doesn't know You, Lord, I pray that You would minister to that one right where they are. Convict them, Lord, of their need of a Saviour and help them to come to the saving knowledge of having a personal relationship with Your Son, Jesus. Help us, Father! Guide us in these trying times and help us to come out the other side of this thing closer to You, and more in touch with the reality of what matters and what doesn't, than ever before.

Father God, I lift up President Trump, Vice-President Pence, our elected officials at every level (federal, state, and local), and all others that are in authority in our nation and in nations around the globe that are dealing, not only with this situation, but others that are of great importance at this time in the history of our world. I pray Your wisdom down upon them, Lord, as they make decisions. Open their eyes, Father God! Cause them to fall on their faces and seek You in all things. Help them to truly do that which is best for the people and I pray that all that is done secret to discredit, disrupt, and interfere would be exposed to the light and be brought to naught.

Save us, O Lord! Shed Your grace and Your mercy upon us and help us to move forward in the days ahead, stronger in our faith, and closer to You than ever before!

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen!

If you have something that you would like me to join you in prayer over, please, feel free to email your request to me at proverbs31heart@yahoo.com. Please put PRAYER REQUEST on the subject line so that I don't miss it. Thanks!

Until next time,

Peace in the Midst of Insanity (COVID-19)

This file handout illustration image obtained February 3, 2020, courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and created at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), reveals ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

When I first starting seeing reports about COVID-19 I didn't pay much attention. In the nearly sixty years that I have been on this earth I have seen, lived through, and experienced a lot.

I was born in the midst of the Vietnam War and witnessed daily reports of its horrors until it finally ended in 1975. I was 14-years-old and I was an only child; a lot of my friends lost brothers and other family members in that war. Over a million people died; 58,148 were U.S. soldiers. Another 75,000 were severely disabled, 23,214 were 100% disabled, 5,283 lost limbs, and 1,081 sustained multiple amputations. 11,465 of those killed were under the age of 20 years old. It was a scary time.

On the homefront during the 60's and on into the 70's, in addition to daily news coverage of the war, we had civil unrest on every front...war protesters, the assassination of President John F. Kennedythe assassination of Dr. Martin Luther KingBlack Powerrace riots, black against white, white against black, police and members of the National Guard swarming our streets with guns and teargas in attempt to keep the peace. It was a scary time.

Then there were the hippies, Hare Krishna, Helter Skelter, Charles Manson, the Age of Aquarius, the Jesus Freaks, the Moonies, and the list goes on and on. It was a scary time. A very scary time. A time of insanity.

I grew up in fear. In fear of everything...literally!

In addition to the daily 24-hour-a-day fear of the effects of war and civil unrest, there was unrest in the extended family and that often ended up being brought to our doorstep and spilling over into my world. My mom and dad always put an end to it, but, it sure got scary when they were dealing with drunken relatives and the myriad of colorful behavior that accompanied them...crying, cursing, brawls in the middle of the livingroom floor, threats made with a drawn switchblade knife, and the windshield of my aunt's car being busted out by the kicking cowboy boots of the drunk that was sitting on top of her car. It was a scary time.

Then, there was the fear of every other possible thing...heights, water, dreams, ghosts, demons, the end of the world...you name it and I was afraid of it. I lived in constant fear. But, at the time, I didn't know that there was any other way to live. I had lived with fear, day-in and day-out my entire life. Sadly, fear was my closest companion and I lived with it well into my 30's...maybe even into my early 40's. BUT, at some point in there (late 90's...early 2000's), I came to the realization of the truth...fear only has as much power as I give it!

I met Jesus at the alter of an old, country church when I was 7-years-old and I clung to Him daily during the worst times of my life...even when I wasn't living (didn't know the first thing about how to live) for Him at all. In the worst and most frightening times of my life, I slept with my Bible under my pillow and drew upon scriptures that I had memorized as a child. That's all I knew to do and, at the time, God met me where I was, and I was comforted.

In later years...after learning from teachers and preachers that point you to the Word of God instead of their own opinions or church doctrine, I learned to actually open a Bible and read it for myself. As I began to grow, I learned that fear is the opposite of faith.

What was I putting my faith in? Was I putting it in God, His Word, and the finished work of Jesus on the cross? Or was I putting my faith in the things that I feared and their ability to harm, hurt, undo, or destroy me? I had some soul-searching to do!!!

At first it was hard. I wanted to believe...but...and you can fill in the blank here with any and every excuse known to man, because I used them all!

The truth of it is, though my battles are fewer, fought less often, and with much less intensity than in the past, fear produced from past experiences and fear of the unknown are still some of the biggest battles I struggle with on a daily basis. What I choose to do with those fears are up to me and I choose not to make excuses for them anymore. Fear is fear and I have authority over it. The question is...will I take it?

Today, I know that the weapons of my warfare are not carnal and that I don't have to put up with fear. It only has as much room to work in as I allow it, so, as soon as fear starts creeping around, I draw my Sword and give no quarter to the enemy.

So...what about COVID-19?

When I first started hearing the reports about COVID-19 I just blew them off. I figured that the media was making a big deal out of nothing and that it would blow over and fizzle out before it even got started. Whatever happened with it, it probably would never effect us here in the Midwest. Pray for those effected and go on. (Maybe not the best attitude to have, but it's the one that I had.)

As the reports of COVID-19 and the effects it was having around the world and, now, the U.S. started to increase my ears began to perk up a bit. When a call came from the nursing home on Tuesday, restricting our visits to Pat, the reports got my full attention. What on earth was happening???

By Thursday store shelves were completely emptied of things like flour, bread, hand sanitizer, disinfectant sprays, and toilet paper, and I was told at work that we were to increase our cleaning and disinfecting efforts; as of yesterday afternoon all of our upcoming programs were to be cancelled immediately through April 30th (hikes, homeschool, public school, library, nature bingo, everything), and all items on display that could not easily be wiped and disinfected were removed and packed away. At 3:00 Friday afternoon President Trump declared a national emergency and at 5:00 Missouri Governor Parsons declared a state emergency. At present there are four known cases of COVID-19 in our state. It's a scary time.

Does that mean that we give way to fear and panic? NO!!!

Now is the time to pull in, draw close to God, stay in His Holy Word, and stand in faith against all that is contrary to the promises found therein.

COVID-19 is real. There are people that have it. Sadly, there are people dying from the complications of it right now; some have died already. There are grieving families and people that are scared. For some, this will not make sense, I know...but, the truth is...Jesus has already paid for it with His blood.

Now is not the time to give in to fear or panic; now is the time to rise up in spirit, stand on Truth, and prioritize! What's the most important thing in your life to you?

The bottom line is...what you do with Jesus...whether you choose to accept or reject Him...is the most important decision that you will ever make. To accept Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior leads to eternal life; to reject Him leads to eternal damnation in Hell. (If you've not accepted Jesus as your personal Savior and would like to find out more click HERE.)

Once you've accepted Jesus into your heart and made Him the Lord of your life, then it's time to get into His Word. Read it, listen to it being read on CD, keep it in your eyes, keep it in your ears, get it out of your head and down into your heart, memorize it, and stand on it! Pray before your read and ask the Holy Spirit to direct your reading and invite the Living Word of God to permeate your entire being. Then...live it!

In these scary times that we find ourselves today, there are only two choices available by which to live...

# 1 - You can choose to stand firmly on God's Word, its promises, and in faith based entirely on the finished work of Jesus at the cross.

# 2- Or you can give way to the enemy and live in fear.

Which will you choose?

Here is something for you to stand on in these troubled times...

Psalm 91 King James Version (KJV)

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Until next time...

Expectations and What They Do to Our Relationships

I grew up in a family that tended to expect certain things from you and, whether or not you lived up to those expectations, determined, in the end, how you were treated.

If you lived up to an expectation, you were praised and doted upon; if you didn't disappointment in you...your thoughts...your actions...was expressed in every possible way...in speech, attitude, and mannerism...and sometimes the disappointment was expressed in various ways for hours, days, weeks, months, or, even, years later. Grudges were held and, sadly, many disappointments remained and were carried to the grave.

In years of late, I have come to realize that, in some areas, I am guilty of being the same way. It hurts my heart when I notice this type of behavior in my own life, or witness it in the lives of those I love. It's not intentional and I absolutely abhor it!

Every single person, whether they acknowledge it or not, was created in the image of God, and has worth and value. Every single person has the need, and the right, to be loved and to be given grace and forgiveness when they need it...whether they deserve it or not.

It hurts my heart when I see those within my own family (including myself), that, when they were the one in need of love, grace, and forgiveness, it was freely granted, but, yet, when it comes to others in the family that are in need, they withhold and refuse the very same. It's not right.

I don't know who said it originally, but one of my favorite quotes came from Michelle Duggar. She said, "Expectations ruin relationships" and how true that is! It's not really people that we have a problem with. It's our expectations of them that keep so many of the wedges that separate us in place.

Now, in this, I'm not saying that you have to put up with things within your own household that go against the principles by which you choose to live your life, but I do believe that if we stopped expecting everyone else to live up to our expectations, and try to meet them where they are...purposely choose to see that everyone is in a different place...physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually...in life, in skills, in thought processes...and we chose to come along side and help and encourage, instead of kicking everyone when they're down or disowning them because they're not living up to our place and skill level in life at the time, things would be much better and families (and every other relationship) would be much closer and times spent together would be more enjoyable.

Personally, I don't want ruined relationships. And when I'm gone I don't want to be remembered as a bitter and hard-hearted woman. My trust and hope should be in God...not people.

Therefore, it is with renewed determination that I vow to live by the Biblical mandates found in the following scriptures:

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you: do ye even so to them..." (Matthew 7:12)

"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another..." (Romans 13:8)

"...let us not be weary in well doing..." (Galatians 6:9)

I pledge to be fiercely loyal to my husband (first), children and grands (second), all extended family members (third), and all others after that.

What about you? What are your expectations? What about others and their expectations of you?

If you're reading this and you've made some mistakes...if others have held high expectations of you and you've failed them...or, perhaps, you're the one who who has held high expectations of others and been left feeling disappointed, slighted, deprived, hurt, and angry...remember...every single person has value and worth. God so loved every single person that He sacrificed His Son for them (John 3:16). Do you realize that, if you had been the only person ever born, He still would have done the same just for YOU? That's how much God loves you! (And everyone else, too.) Now...whether we we choose to accept that sacrifice is up to us, but, still, Jesus bled and died for all and, according to His Word, it is God's will that all men should be saved (I Timothy 2:3-4).

I don't know where you're at in all of this today, but I feel like this post is, not only for myself, for someone else out there. If you're reading this, and you feel that this message is for you, too, please, feel free to contact me privately so that I can stand in agreement in prayer with you for whatever you're facing.

Until next time...
