Happy New Year!

Greetings, Dear One!

I saw this pretty, vintage New Year's Day card on Facebook this morning and it, once again, reminded me of my dear Grandma Maudie and her love of such things.

Grandma saved every postcard she ever received (hundreds of them) and I am fortunate enough to have inherited that collection when my dad passed away.

I went through the box this afternoon and selected a couple of New Year's Day cards to share with you here. Both cards are well over 100 years old.

The first one is of a lovely winter scene clearly dated 1910 on the front. There is no stamp or postmark on the back, so it must have been hand delivered. My guess is, that the card was delivered to my grandmother in February of that year, because there is a message written on the back in a fine hand that simply says, "Will you be my Valentine." It is signed by a Ruth Kilmer. I do not recognize the name.

The second card is scenic with a wish for the New Year on the front. It says...

A Happy New Year to You
And may each day of it wield new Riches of
Love and Peace and Plenty

There is a cancelled stamp on the back with a postmark dated January 2, 1912. It is addressed to my grandmother, Mrs. Wiley Brown, Moundridge, Kansas. The writer is my grandmother's girlhood friend, Fannie Sullivan. Fannie's greeting is brief...

Jan 1-1912

Hello! How are you. I am fine. Enjoying this handsome weather. It is just as cold as it can be here. Will close. Wishing you a Happy New Year.

Your Friend, Fannie Sullivan

Ans [Answer] soon!

From my grandmother's postcards we can see that, though the years (centuries!) may come and go, well wishes from dear friends for a Happy New Year can, and do, withstand the test of time.

Blessings to you and yours and Happy 2022!

Until next time...

Twenty-One Things in 2021

It's the last day of 2020 and, as we prepare to ring in the New Year, I've been thinking about some of the things that I would like to do and accomplish in 2021.

This is the third such list that I've made like this. The first was in 2018 and the second was in 2019; for some reason, I skipped 2020 altogether. 😕 Oh, well! Below is a list of twenty-one things that I hope to do or accomplish in 2021.

How about you? Have you thought about some of the things you'd like to do in 2021? If so, feel free to share a few of them in the comments section below and we can cheer one another on as, together, we move forward into a bright New Year!

9. Create our own 2021 "Christmas Club" by completing the 52 Week Money Challenge 💵
10. Post my weekly master to-do list and menu plan here on the blog 📜
11. Deep-clean, purge, reorganize, and rearrange each room in our home 🏡
12. Create a new pantry area 🥫
13. Participate in a 31-day home decluttering challenge 🧹
14. Reroof the house, garage, and shed 🏠

Happy New Year and No Need To Fear

Happy New Year, Dear Ones! 🎉🎊🎆

Can you believe it? The holidays are over, 2018 is behind us, and all of 2019 lies before us...new and empty...like a fresh canvas! What does the new year hold for you and your family and how will you fill the days that you have been given?

Many people are fearful right now (myself included, if I allow myself to entertain the lies of the enemy), but, honestly, now is NOT the time to fear. As my cousin, Dave, says, "What a wonderful time to be alive!"

There are so many wonderful and exciting things going on in our world today and, what we see in the physical realm, is just a reflection of what's going on in the spiritual realm.

Yes, battles are raging on every front, the weather is crazy and so are the politicians, and everything that can be shaken IS being shaken! BUT that's just how Jesus said it would be just before His soon return! And, while the dark is, obviously, growing darker, as the day of Jesus' soon return grows closer, so, too, is the light growing brighter. There are a LOT of great and wonderful and godly things happening in our world today. Most people just don't hear about them because they're, either, tuned-in exclusively to the world's conduits of information, or else they're so closed off they that hear nothing at all and are left to their own imaginations as the enemy wreaks havoc upon their very souls.

Now is not the time to fear! It is the time to rejoice! We are seeing Biblical prophecy being played out before our very eyes and, even though it may not look like it in the natural, everything is right on target and right in line with God's Word.

This is a WONDERFUL time to be alive and, in the year ahead, I expect that, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are going to see greater and more magnificent things than we've ever even dared to think or dream about!

Don't be afraid! Press into the Word! Put it in your eyes (read it) and put it in your ears (read it aloud...listen to it on CD...listen to preachers that teach Biblical truth) and determine to do so every single day. "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).

Seek the Lord while He may be found and trust Him to open up your path step-by-step before you at every turn. In the midst of the storm, keep your eyes on Jesus for He is "...the way, the truth, and the life..." and "...no man cometh unto the Father...but by..." Him! (John 14:6).

It's a new year and it's time to celebrate and embrace all that the Lord has for His people! Are you ready to step into 2019 with a thirst and hunger for God's Word as never before? If so, lay it out to the Lord today. Repent of your sins, ask His forgiveness, delve into a good, time-tested, tried-and-true version of the Bible (I recommend the King James, but, if you prefer to use another version, that's fine...just test it against the KJV to make sure that's it really saying the same thing, because, honestly, you can get bibles today that will say anything you want them to say...in the end stick with the time-tested integrity of the KJV), then, put your hand to the plow, and don't look back!

No matter what the enemy throws in your path...no matter what lies he whispers in your ear...you just keep on keepin' on and don't take no for an answer! If God's Word says it, you believe it, because it is the TRUTH! In fact, God's Word is the only truth there is in this world! In the end, what you did with it (receiving it, believing it, and confessing Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior) is the only thing that is going to matter!

Well...that's all I've got to say this morning. I wish each and every one of you a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year and blessings on every front!

Until next time...

Happy New Year!

Greetings, Dear Ones!

What a blessing it is to be with you on this first day of a brand new year! It is with great joy and anticipation that I look forward to all that the Lord has in store in the days ahead and I pray that 2014 will be a year of great blessing for you and your family, as well as our own.

In recent months time, energy, and vision has slipped away from me and I'm afraid I've done nothing justice. It is with renewed strength and fresh insight from the Word of God that I determine to take back ground lost over the past several months (years) and move full steam ahead in all that the Lord has called me to do. It may take a little time to regroup and refocus, but, determined to do so I am!

One of the areas that I want to really focus on, and totally recommit to, in 2014 is a fresh commitment to the Truth and integrity of God's Word. For far too long I've allowed the negativity of others to silence me and their wrong actions (and inaction) to detour me. No more!

As the world around us sinks further and further into sinfulness and depravity (and the church into apostasy and lukewarmness), it's time for those of the true body of Christ to rise up, straighten up that full armour of God, and stand firmly on Biblical principle no matter what. It's the only way that we're going to survive all that is coming on, and is even now, in the earth around us.

We don't need to fear anything or anyone. We just need to stand firmly on the Word and put it into practice.

Other areas that I am seeking the Lord's will in and want to focus on in 2014 are health and wellness, debt freedom, and Biblical femininity.

What are some areas that you and your family are seeking the Lord's will in and want to focus on in 2014?

Well, my friends, I just wanted to pop in, say "Hello!", and wish you and yours a Happy New Year! I wish you all the best and pray the Lord's greatest blessings over you and yours in 2014!

Until Next Time...
~Rebecca
