Christ's Final Week - A Reading Schedule

As Passion Week begins I am reminded of the many in-depth Bible studies that our family has done over the years concerning that "final week" in Jesus's life and all that it entailed. 

Here is a reading schedule that covers the Triumphal Entry through the Resurrection. I'd like to invite you to follow along as we focus our hearts and minds on all that Jesus endured during that final week life wrapped in human flesh for my sake and for yours.

Palm Sunday - Day One of Passion Week

Greetings, Dear Ones! 

I pray that you and yours are enjoying a lovely Palm Sunday as Christians around the world celebrate the first day of Passion Week 2020! 🌴

I've heard several say that secular news is reporting that, because of the pandemic, Resurrection (Easter) Sunday is canceled this year. No it's not! Death could not keep Jesus in the grave and empty buildings cannot keep His followers from celebrating His death, burial, and resurrection! 

In fact, thanks to modern technology, more Word is going out right now than ever before and, what's more, many people that have never heard the gospel, or have paid little attention to it in the past, are in a position, not only to hear the gospel, but to receive it. 

Despite all the bad stuff that is going on in our world today, there are a lot of good things happening, too, and I'm excited! I honestly believe that we are going to see some amazing, wonderful, and miraculous things in the days ahead! As my cousin, Dave, says, "What an exciting time to be alive!" 

What work has God called you to in the midst of all this? 

Whatever you do, don't get over into fear! Use this opportunity to get into God's Word and study it. Draw nigh unto God and He will draw night unto you (James 4:8)!

We Walk By Faith (2 Corinthians 5:7)

In these uncertain times, don't be moved by what you see, what you hear, and what you feel. Stay in the Word of God and determine to be moved only by the truths and revelation found therein. If you're a born-again believer (a follower of Jesus Christ) and you are endeavoring to live your life in obedience to the scriptures, then the promises found in God's Word belong to you! Believe them, receive them, and walk in them for it is only in them that God's will and God's truth is revealed. Dare to step out of your comfort zone! Get into the Word of God TODAY and don't ever look back! Determine TODAY to walk by faith and not by sight! I promise...you will never regret it! 💗

It's Late, But It's Still Friday

My Husband's Tomato Plants

It was a cold, wet, rainy Friday here, which made it a good day to stay in, but, between the first and second sessions of the Victory Campaign (online) John and I ran errands and took care of business around town; between the second and third sessions we made a mad dash to Lamar to pick up Easter treats for the grandlittles. By the time we got back we found out that the governor had announced a state-wide stay-at-home order that goes into effect on Monday, April 6th and is supposed to last through the 24th. I'm glad that, even though store shelves were practically empty, we were able to pick up a few extra groceries while we were there. 

As you can see from the photo above, my husband's tomato plants are growing quite nicely. The question is...is it ever going to dry up enough to get a garden tilled up so we can plant them outside? 😳

I had a half a can of pineapple left, so I baked another Pineapple Upside Down Cake this afternoon; this evening I worked on a Christmas project while listening to the third session of the Victory Campaign. Other than that...it's been a pretty quiet day. 

How are things going where you're at? How many of you are under stay-at-home orders? And what part of the country (or the world) are you from? 

I know that there is a lot going on right now, but we have to put our faith in Christ and in Him alone.

Family Visits, Spring Flowers, and Something Different For Lunch

Greetings, Dear Ones! 💗

I pray that this Thursday afternoon finds you and yours healthy, happy, and serving the Lord with joy in this bizarre season in which we find ourselves. How are you spending your day?

Things are going well here. I spent the morning in prayer and Bible study. Then, enjoyed a leisurely visit with one of our daughters-in-law. She was needing a new Flexi for her hair, so, after narrowing down her choices on messenger, she came over to pick up her chosen favorite. We kept the exchange outside and practiced social distancing by holding our conversation on the front porch, while sitting several feet apart. It was nice! 💗

Then, in the afternoon I saw two of my children and their children and ended up totally blowing the whole social distancing thing by giving in and hugging my grandchildren. It really couldn't be helped and I don't regret it. We won't be overly free with the hugs by any means, but, from now on, we will hug when the situation deems in necessary. 🤗

I discovered these incredibly small, but absolutely lovely, spring flowers blooming in the yard this afternoon...

And, then, I made something really weird for lunch. (At least it sounded really weird to me...at first!) I made Sliced Apple and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. 😳

Slice Apple and Grilled Cheese Sandwich

I saw a recipe for them yesterday. I had one apple left, so decided to try it for lunch. For each sandwich I melted a small amount of butter on the grill and laid the slices of bread in it to give each side a buttery layer. Then, after letting the bread toast to a buttery golden brown on one side, I flipped it over and added 1/2 apple sliced into very thin slices and three thin slices of sharp cheddar cheese cut from a one-pound block. I allowed the bread to toast to a buttery golden brown, then flipped again to brown on the other side. I served the sandwiches with Chili-Cheese Frito's and, I have to admit, it was absolutely delicious! In fact, it was better than a plain grilled cheese sandwich and I will definitely make these again and again! My husband and I both greatly enjoyed the flavor and what a great way to slip fresh fruit into your meal plans! They were really, REALLY good! 💗

Well, that's it for me today. By all rights hubby and I should be in Branson right now for the annual Victory Campaign, but, earlier in the year, we had decided that we were going to skip it this year, save the money, and put it towards debt freedom. Now, due to the pandemic, services at Faith Life Church have been canceled and the three-day, scheduled event is going to be broadcast live online. The first session is tonight at 8:00 and I ended up taking tomorrow and Saturday off work so I could attend the first Virtual Victory Campaign ever online and not miss a thing. I'm so excited!

Anyway, I'm going to get around here and start moving towards evening. I will talk to you all again soon!

Hello, April!

Happy First Day of April! 💗🌷💗

Here in southwest Missouri the weather is gorgeous and we are experiencing an absolutely perfect (70 degrees and sunny) day! We couldn't possibly ask for anything better! 🌞

This morning I went through the closet and swapped out winter clothes for summer. While I was at it, I tossed out a few things that were in really bad shape and bagged up two bags of clothes to be taken to the Good Samaritan. It felt to get that done and I hope, by fall, to clear out a lot more. 

I, also, made a Pineapple Upside Down Cake this morning (will be sharing the recipe for that a little later). My daughter and I had been discussing our family's love of pineapple and, the next thing I knew, there I was...baking AGAIN!!! 🍍😲🎂

John and I went out earlier. Ran up to Casey's to get a drink and just get out of the house for a bit. We dropped a couple of things off at our daughter's and visited with her and our grands for a while (from the car and at a distance). On the way home, our daughter-in-law was out mowing, so we stopped and visited with her and our grands there for a bit...again from a distance and never leaving our car. At both stops our youngest grands were enjoying the abundance of dandelions growing in their yards. I took this picture of granddaughter, Mary, with dandelions in her hair...

...and she took this one of me. We both think that we look absolutely lovely with flowers in our hair! Don't you? 💛

Upon pulling out of the driveway there, my sweet friend, Nellie, was out walking, so, we stopped and visited with her (from the car and at a distance) for just a few minutes and it was all wonderful! BUT...I'll sure be glad when I can get my hands on those grandlittles and (((((HUG))))) 'em all good and tight! It's been way too long and this Nana's heart is achin'! 💔

Well, I'm going to get going. My husband and I are wanting to get outside and walk around the yard to see what's happening out there this afternoon.
