Happy Homemaker Monday - The Late Edition - October 14, 2019

Greetings, Dear Readers! ๐Ÿงก

It's 10:00 p.m., Monday is nearly over, and I'm just now sitting down to work on this week's post. It's been a very busy day, to say the least, and there will be no dilly-dallying tonight. Short, sweet, and to the point! Let's get started...shall we?

Won't you join me as I link up with Sandra of Diary of a Stay At Home Mom and all the other lovely ladies that gather there on this week's Happy Homemaker Monday? ๐Ÿ’—

Right now I am...

... just focusing on getting this post out before the clock strikes midnight. ๐Ÿ•›

On the breakfast plate...

... this morning I had French toast with sugar-free syrup and pumpkin spice tea

The weather...

... After some real up and down temperatures this week today was one of those perfect October days. At the moment it's 63 degrees and the full moon is absolutely gorgeous!

Tuesday 4 Meme - All In A Day

Greetings, Dear Friends!

It's time for another Tuesday 4 Meme! Here are Toni's questions for this week and my answers are following...

All In A Day

1. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

It usually only takes me a few minutes (10 to 15) to actually "get ready" but it is my habit to set the alarm at least two hours in advance of whatever time I need to leave by. This way I can enjoy my morning (have tea, read a chapter or two of Bible, look over my calendar and plan for the day, cook and eat breakfast), and start my day feeling relaxed instead of feeling rushed. I don't like doing ANY thing last minute.

2. Do you like to clean house every day or leave it for another day?

Ideally, I like to do a general straightening before bed each day, but it doesn't always happen. Monday is my big cleaning day. That's when I do my weekly "home blessing"...which sounds like a lot, but our house is small and none of the jobs take long...especially if I have kept up with the general straightenings throughout the week. If I haven't, it usually takes a lot longer and, if I have added any extra or deep-cleaning jobs it can take the better part of the day, so it varies.

3. What is your least favorite thing to do that you have to do every day?

Go to sleep.

4. After all is said and done what is your favorite way to relax?

Get out in nature and observe the intricacies of God's creation.

Until next time...
~Rebecca

Happy Homemaker Monday - October 7, 2019

Took this hearth photo at Missouri Town over the weekend
and did a little work on it. I thought it was appropriate! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Greetings, Dear Readers! Happy First Monday of October 2019! ๐Ÿงก

How are you? And how was your weekend?

Our week and weekend were good here, but the time fairly flew by...just as it seems it does with all the other weeks here of late.

Monday and Tuesday were spent taking care of business and working around the house; the rest of the week was spent working at the park (school groups and upcoming program prep). I was off, however, over the weekend and took full advantage of it!

On Saturday John and I met my aunts and cousins at Missouri Town 1855 for their annual fall festival. It was rainy, yes, but not a complete washout like last year (last year they had to cancel completely). We met the fam there shortly after opening and enjoyed several hours of visiting and taking in the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of autumn and an era gone by.

Some of us were smart enough to bring umbrellas (like the
ones here) and some of us were not (like John and I).☔
Music filled the air of the event and here my young cousins
joined the old-time dancers for a spin on the lawn.
Would any fall event be complete without funnel cake? ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Five generations of our family have enjoyed visiting
Missouri Town over the years and I can't help but
think of my mother whenever I see two of the structures there...
this cabin (it was her favorite and she had friends that used
to live in it before it was moved to its current location)...
...and the chicken house. (She always dreamed
of having one just like it.)
Despite the rain, we had a lovely day and John and I ended it with a quick visit to one of my favorite places in the world...Sailboat Cove on Lake Jacomo.

Now it's time to get on with a brand new week! Won't you join me as I link up with Sandra of Diary of a Stay At Home Mom and all the other lovely ladies that gather there on this week's Happy Homemaker Monday? ๐Ÿ’—

Right now I am...

... enjoying a cup of tea and finishing up breakfast while I work on this post.

On the breakfast plate...

... fat-free turkey slices, a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese, and egg on a hamburger bun (I forgot to buy sandwich bread this week) with pumpkin spice tea

The weather...

... We went from summer to late fall, literally, overnight (I think that was Wednesday night). Right now it's cloudy with the temperature sitting at a cool 43 degrees (which is cooler than what was predicted), but it looks like even chillier nights are ahead. I think it's time to dig out the fall clothes and start thinking about winter weatherization.

... On my reading pile...

Other than daily Bible reading I haven't read a single word of anything else this week, so I'm still just where I was. I have added several new books to my 'want to read' pile though. ๐Ÿ˜„

My Father, Daniel Boone - The Draper Interviews with Nathan Boone edited by Neal O. Hammon and On The Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder

On the menu this week...

Monday - Beef stew, homemade bread (freezer), and crustless sweet potato pie
Tuesday - Turkey Italian sausages, oven-roasted vegetables (potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions) and high-fiber bran muffins
Wednesday - Chili and fried apples
Thursday - Oven-roasted turkey, cheesy scalloped potatoes, and frozen peas
Friday - Broiled spoonbill (last package of it in the freezer...I think), leftover cheesy scalloped potatoes, green beans, and fried apples
Saturday - Dh's night to cook
Sunday - Leftovers

Baskets of Apples and Pears @ Missouri Town
On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - HHM post, home blessing, laundry, plan the week ahead
- Tuesday - Lead a group of area homeschoolers on an autumn hike and scavenger hunt
- Wednesday - Work (bison vet checks); invited to son and daughter-in-law's in the evening
- Thursday - Catch up on things around the house
- Friday - Work (homeschool program)
- Saturday - Work

- Sunday - Church; work in the afternoon

In the craft basket...

... keeping up with the temperature afghan

Looking forward to this week...

... Getting out in nature (autumn hike) and helping with the bison vet checks.

Tuesday 4 Meme - 4 Unrelated Questions

Greetings, Dear Friends!

It's time for another Tuesday 4 Meme! Toni shares some interesting questions this week. Here are my answers...

4 Unrelated Questions

1. Have you ever known anyone that's been on TV including you?

Yes...many...myself included (work-related).

2. What do you find yourself buying all the time?

Food, toilet paper, and project, program, and craft supplies.

๐Ÿ•ท Yesterday's Program Supply Haul  ๐Ÿ•ท

3. When was the last time you got a real letter in the mail?

A few months ago now. At one time I had over a hundred pen-pals, then a card and letter writing ministry but, sadly, most of the people that I corresponded with back then are deceased now or else I've lost contact with them. I do so enjoy writing, sending, and receiving letters though and its something that I hope to return to in the days ahead.

4. Have you ever lived in a house/apartment that has been broken into?

No.

Until next time...

Happy Homemaking Monday - September 30, 2019

Greetings, Dear Readers! Happy Monday! ๐Ÿงก (The last Monday of September already! Can you believe that???) ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

What a long and crazy week this first week of autumn has been! Last week I shared a bit about the fire at the school. Arrests have been made and, hopefully, that ends the rash of arson fires that have plagued our community since June. The old high school and elementary gymnasium are gone. What didn't burn had to be torn down due to instability.

Tuesday I ran errands and took a friend to the eye doctor; the rest of the week I worked.

Saturday night we were under a tornado warning and things got pretty wild there for a bit.

Then, in the middle of the night Saturday night (early Sunday morning) our electricity went out for about an hour and half, which, in and of itself was no big deal, but when the fan and air-conditioner went off, that was it. I was up in the middle of the night for about four hours. ๐Ÿ˜’

Now, here we are...back around to Monday and I'm so hoping for a week that's a little bit calmer than the last.

The weather...
