Happy Homemaker Monday - May 7, 2018

Today I'm joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom

and all the sweet ladies of Happy Homemaking Monday!

Good morning, Sweet Ladies! 💗

Like most weeks here lately this past one has fairly flown by! WHERE does the time go??? 😲

Early in the week we got the new headlights installed on the car and it's amazing how much of a difference it makes! I can actually see to drive at night again...which is really, REALLY good!!! 😆

While in town on Monday I picked up a couple flats of marigolds and several varieties of sunflower seed. On Tuesday I planted a row of marigolds in front of the porch and a few around a couple of trees. I also shared several six-packs of marigolds with family and friends and planted a long row of sunflowers in the back along the edge of the greenhouse. I can't wait for them to produce! 🌻

I was able to work on my blog more than usual this week and got a couple of extra posts out, which was very enjoyable, but I miss sharing on a more frequent basis. Perhaps someday I will be in position to devote more time to blogging. We'll see!

On Thursday we attended our son-in-law's grandmother's funeral and then it was back to work for the weekend...and now...here we are Monday again.

So...let's get on with it...shall we??? 😊

Right now I am...

Getting ready for morning company as my oldest daughter and a long-time friend will be joining me for tea shortly

On the breakfast plate...

Double Orange Scones and Angel's Dream tea

The weather...

Is beautiful! 62 degrees and sunny at the moment with a high of 82 expected.

On my reading pile...

In addition to daily scripture reading I am reading Along the Way - Building A Legacy That Changes Lives by Lynette Hagin and That Printer of Udell's by Harold Bell Wright

Looking forward to this week...

Visiting the Bates County and Papinville museums and learning more about local, Osage, and area Civil War history.

Something interesting I watched...

A couple of weeks ago I watched this great blue heron fishing in Shoal Creek near the Redding's Mill Bridge in Joplin. What a beautiful bird!!! 💗

What I found while surfing the net...

I don't get a chance to surf the net too much and, when I do, it's usually something to do with work, so...I found this article on Prairie mole crickets. It's probably not something that most people would find interesting...but...hey! I'm a naturalist, so what can I say?

From the camera...

The new bench in our backyard. We bought the three-piece bistro set to match
and it's on our back porch where we can take our meals should we choose to.
Scripture passage...

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed and beautiful week ahead! And HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! 🌷

Until Next Time...
~Rebecca

  1. Every time I've planted sunflowers lately, the snails have had a feast! Of course, I keep trying. Love the photo of the Great Blue Heron and your patio furniture looks great. Looks like the perfect furniture to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

    1. I'm sorry to hear that you've not had good luck with sunflowers lately, Jean. Mine are up about an inch and a half high right now and there are a bunch of them! It was great this morning. I had some time to myself, so I went outside and sat on the new bench to read. It was wonderful! I was in the shade and the rest of the yard was in bathed in sunlight. The irises are blooming so pretty and the birds were singing so sweetly. It was very relaxing and enjoyable! Have a great rest of the week! <3
