Summer Bucket List 2023

As much as I try to enjoy it, summer continues to be my least favorite of the four seasons. The current triple-digit tempertures, along with high humidy and extreme drought conditions, certainly don't help. At this point, I am very much looking forward to fall!

BUT...despite all of that...I'm still hoping for, and looking for the best in, the summer season. In looking over my calendar, I've come up with a list of things that I'd like to do and accomplish over the course of it. In reality, I probably won't get to all of them, but having a list will certainly help me to keep my focus and encourage me to keep pressing forward even on the hottest and sweatiest of summer days.

  • Write my summer bucket list
  • Plan my summer menus (these will be posted weekly in my 'Master List and Menu Plan Monday' posts)
  • Celebrate summer birthdays with the grandlittles (there are a bunch of them!)
  • Celebrate Independence Day
  • Eat watermelon
  • Welcome a new granddaughter into the family
  • Observe a full moon (July 3 - Buck Moon, August 1 - Sturgeon Moon, August 30 - Blue Moon)
  • Catch lightening bugs
  • Enjoy the Perseid meteor shower
  • Celebrate my 62nd birthday
  • Find a cicada shell
  • Grill burgers on the grill
  • Enjoy fresh produce and herbs from my garden
  • Enjoy a banana split
  • Cut fresh flowers from the garden and make a bouquet
  • Work on some new photography ideas
  • Paint, hide, and find rocks with the grands
  • Take a day trip to northwest Arkansas
  • Complete the following programs at work...
    - Wild Cats of Missouri
    - 'Little Moss, Big Tree' Library Program
    - Civil War on the Border Day Camp
    - Sunflowers a la Petite Prairie
  • Attend a family reunion
  • Enjoy a Kansas City Royals game at 'The K' (Kauffman Stadium)
  • Attend a baby shower for my first great-grandbaby
  • Go camping
  • Enjoy time around a fire
  • Finish cleaning out the shed on Pedro
That's what's on my summer bucket list thus far (I may add to it as the season moves along). What's on yours?

Until next time...

  1. I am not a fan of summer months either due to the weather. But yet, it's also my favorite time of year because I was born in July, and I tend to take my week long work vacations then. This is a great list and excellent ideas of ways to enjoy your summer months.

    1. Thanks for taking the time to stop in and comment Crystal and, please, forgive my rudeness of not even responding. To be honest, I'm just now getting back in the groove after being missing in action for almost the entire season. I did recently post a summer bucket list update though if you are interested in reading it. Thanks, again, and blessings for a great rest of the week!

  2. In hear you! Summer is not my favorite. I am so fair skinned I burn if I even see the sun! I don't like bugs. I am much more of an indoor girl! But, looking over your list, I see several things I could enjoy! So, thank you for that!

  3. We love watermelon and have had a few this summer so far. Who doesn't love catching lightning bugs? Where are you going camping? Thanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedLinkParty 120. Pinned.

    1. I am just now seeing and responding to this, Dee (please see my response to Billie Jo just above). Catching lightening bugs has always been a summer favorite of mine. As for camping, I didn't this summer, but I'd still like to. Pomme de Terre State Park here in Missouri would be my first choice at this point if time and opportunity permit. Thanks for stopping in and commenting! Blessings!

  4. Love your list Rebecca! I have some similarities. Added ones include mini golf, walking on a rocky beach near me and skipping rocks, doing a lake walk that has a malt shop at the end (only open in the summer 😋 ), make a strawberry pie, go on a few more pontoon rides, swim, have coffee in the morning with birdsong on the deck as long as I can! ;)

    1. Thanks, Carrie! My husband loved to play mini golf. We did it a time or two and I enjoyed it. With him being done now I hadn't even thought of it. Might be fun to do with the grands, though! Walking on a beach near you...YES! Agate Bay is the one I'm hoping to catch the next time I'm up that way! IS there a lake walk that's got a malt shop at the end of it? If so, please, tell me where! LOL! Strawberry pie sounds good! Did you end up making one this year? All of your ideas are great ones! Thanks for sharing! I hope you had an absolutely wonderful summer! <3
