Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - May 1, 2023

It's an absolutely glorious mid-spring day here on the tallgrass prairie of southwest Missouri! The birds are singing, the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and God's love, care, and provision is evident and abundant on every front! Happy First Day of May 2023!

How was your week and weekend? Mine was good here...super busy...but all in a good way!

I worked on Wednesday. That morning we had school groups; I worked on program-planning in the afternoon.

Thursday morning daughter-in-law, Angie, and I got together for our regular, quarterly breakfast date. We've done this for I-don't-know-how-many years, but, in recent months, we've added a pre-breakfast drive through the park to see what can we see. This time we hit the jackpot!

Coyote

It was cloudy and some of the more nocturnal-type animals were late heading home to their dens. We saw two raccoons, a coyote, an opposum, several deer, four bull bison, and all kinds of birds...red-winged blackbirds, mourning doves, wild turkeys, barn swallows, American goldfinches, a great white egret, and more!

Native Sparrow

Afterwards we had breakfast at Mary's. It was a great morning!

In the afternoon, Carla rode with me to Nevada (the city, not the state of). I had to stop at the vet's to pick up Revolution Plus for all three cats. After that, we went to the grocery store, had lunch at Freddy's, then went to Walmart. Our last stop of the day was at the Amish greenhouse where we spent waaaay too much money on flowers, but it was fun! I got a few herbs and a hen and chick, too!

I worked Friday and Saturday. I took the following photo of a big, ol' bull Friday morning. He was magnificent! And, oh! So majestic! Absolutely gorgeous!

Magnificent Bull Bison

After church on Sunday I worked on wiping out a variety of little, odd-and-end jobs that had been left undone all week...cleaning the water pitcher and replacing the old filter with a new one, opening the new bag of cat food and refilling the self-feeder, putting away books, papers, and other items that have managed to pile up here and there over the past week, etc. I visited with friends and family members on the phone, took a nap, then finished reading another book. Amber and Esther came over in the late afternoon and visited for a few hours. It turned out to be a great day all the way around!

I was enjoying working and getting caught up on things around the house so much that I didn't end up going to bed until almost 3 o' clock this morning. I figured I'd sleep in, but I didn't. I was up and back at it by 8:30 this morning and have accomplished quite a lot today, for which I'm thankful!

I should be getting on it with it though. The day is getting totally away from me now and I still have much to do before joining family for supper. Let's take a look at the week ahead, shall we?

  1. Enjoyed your post today! I need to borrow a bit of your motivation I think. Beautiful flowers. For the record, I say there's no such thing as spending way too much money on flowers (especially, since I do just that every spring/summer). Hope you have a wonderful week. Happy May!

    1. Thanks, Jean! You're welcome to borrow all the motivation you want...although...I think it's only fair to warn you...my motivation is running a bit low at this point! And thank you soooo much!!!! Now that you've clarified the fact that there's no such thing as spending way too much money on flowers, I might have to go back and spend some more! LOL!!! (I'm just kidding! If I go back at all it will be to pick up a few vegetable plants!) Hope you're having a wonderful week, too! :)

    1. Hey, Carrie! Yes, Angie and I have a lot of fun with that! We've been doing the breakfast thing forever, but adding the nature drive makes it even more special! Hope you get the warmer weather soon, so you can go pick out those flowers! What kinds are your favorites? Have a great rest of the week! Blessings!
