Happy Homemaker Monday - October 15, 2018

Good morning, Sweet Ladies! HAPPY MONDAY!

As of today we're halfway through the month of October and time is moving on! How was your week and weekend been?

The Evening Sky Outside My Office Window Saturday Night
My week here was busy...busier than usual, in fact. Monday was catch-up day at home. On Tuesday we put the garden to bed. That, of course, resulted in putting up the last of this year's green and banana peppers. Wednesday was a BIG day at work...bison working and vet checks in the morning and a night hike on the prairie that evening. Thursday was grocery shopping and errand-running and, on Friday, it was back to work for the weekend. Friday morning I presented my WILD ABOUT ELK program to a group of homeschoolers and on Saturday it was catch-up day at work. Yesterday morning, of course, was church, then time spent with family in the afternoon and evening. It was a busy week, but a good one that resulted in a lot being accomplished. The only thing I didn't have time for was blogging...thus no posts since last week's HHM. My apologies for that. 😞

Now, here it is Monday afternoon and I've been on the move since getting out of bed. It's well after my normal lunchtime and I'm just finding the time to sit down and eat while I work on this post.

Today I'm joining Sandra and the other lovely ladies for Happy Homemaker Monday over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. Won't you join me? ðŸ’—

Today I'm joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom and
all of the wonderful ladies of
Happy Homemaker Monday!

Right now I am...

... Having lunch while typing this post. I also have herbs drying in the oven, laundry going, and am working on the mid-month budget.

Am thinking...

... About what a small world it really is. Just last night my son was telling me about a guy that he ran into in the town he lives in that thinks he might be related to us. Verified it all this morning. Yep! My cousin in Texas has a son that lives in the same town as our youngest and, I think, in the same apartment complex. What are the odds? WILD! 😲

On the breakfast plate...

... This morning I had THM Sweatpants Oatmeal; for lunch I'm having a turkey and cheese sandwich and chili-cheese Fritos.

The weather...

... COLD! At 1:00 in the afternoon it is 42 degrees, but feels like 38. There was snow just to our west last night. We're under a freeze warning and are expecting our first freeze tonight. The 10-day forecast promises highs in the 40's, 50's, and 60's with lows in the 30's and 40's. Wow!
It appears that we went straight from summer to winter and skipped fall altogether. 😢

On my reading pile...

... Right now I'm reading America Stands. It is a collection of all our founding documents of freedom...the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, etc. put out by Kenneth Copeland Publications.

On the menu this week...

Monday - roasted chicken, baked potatoes, green beans, and corn on the cob
Tuesday - soup (sweet potato and oat) and salad
Wednesday -
baked salmon fillets, roasted butternut squash, and steamed broccoli
Thursday - soup (creamy chicken and wild rice) and salad
Friday - Italian sausage, fried cabbage, and leftover butternut squash
Saturday - homemade pizza
Sunday - leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - Plan the week ahead, do my weekly "home blessing", laundry, do mid-month budget, go to the bank, harvest and dry herbs, exchange summer clothes for winter
- Tuesday - Celebrate grandson T.J.'s upcoming birthday, pick up a few groceries
- Wednesday - Present library programs (morning and afternoon)
- Thursday - Take a friend to her hair appointment
-Friday - Work
- Saturday - Work (Battle of Island Mound)
- Sunday - Church, work in the afternoon

In the craft basket...

Nothing at the moment.

Looking forward to this week...

Celebrating my grandson's birthday, having a little more down time than I did last week, and catching up on a few odds and ends at home.

Something interesting I watched this week...

My husband shared this rare footage of New York City with me on Facebook. It is footage from 1911 and, as he pointed out, much of what we see here is as it would have been when his immigrant relatives arrived from Sicily and Italy shortly after the turn-of-the-century. Truly amazing to be able to watch and get a glimpse of what they may have witnessed first-hand! 💗

From the camera...

This morning I was cold and in the mood to do some serious tea drinking, so I pulled out this giant "Good Morning Pumpkin" mug that my cousin, Sara, gave me, to which I added a bag of Twining's Irish Breakfast tea and, filling 'er up with boiling hot water, and enjoyed every last drop of it! 😋
Scripture passage...

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed and beautiful week ahead! And I'll see you next week!

Until Next Time...
~Rebecca
