Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - September 12, 2022

Good morning! It's Monday! I hope that you and yours had a great weekend and that your week is off to a great start! My week here was full; my weekend wonderful! My oldest granddaughter and her husband were married on Saturday.

September 10, 2022

Heather made a beautiful bride and Corey was quite handsome in his blue suit. We had a lovely time of sharing with family and friends, some of which I hadn't seen in quite some time, and I enjoyed visiting with them very much.

At the Reception

The kids set up a lovely memorial table in remembrance of my husband at the reception. It was kind of them to do so and his presence and participation in the event was definitely missed. It was hard doing the first grandchild's wedding without him. I love and miss him so much! 💔

I wish Heather and Corey all the best and pray that God's perfect will for their lives, both individually and as a couple, will be brought to fruition in the days ahead. May God richly bless them both! 💓💓

Amanda and Aaron were in for the wedding and they ended up renting a cabin at Angler's Paradise for the weekend; Alysia stayed the weekend with Patrick and Amber. Sunday evening we all met up out there at the cabin for a cookout and had a great time! The weather was gorgeous, the evening crisp and cool and very fall-like! I loved it! 🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁

I hated hearing about the Queen's death this week. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, that loved Jesus deeply. Her presence in this world will definitely be missed.

Queen Elizabeth II

Please join me in praying over the Royal family at this time, and over Charles especially, as he takes over the throne as King. I don't know that he'll handle his role in the monarchy as well as his mother did. I'm sure that he can use all the prayers he can get. 😢

Lance Mackey's family, too. Lance Mackey has been my all-time favorite dog-sled racer in the Iditarod for years. After a long battle with throat cancer, Lance passed away a few hours before the Queen. He, too, will be greatly missed!

Lance Mackey

Please pray for Lance's children, two of which are very young. They lost their mama in an ATV accident two years ago and, now, their daddy. It's got to be rough for all who are left behind. 😢

Let's get on with this week's post, shall we?

Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - September 5, 2022

I'm running a bit late with today's post. I hope that you and yours have had a very enjoyable holiday weekend. My weekend here was GREAT!

I worked Saturday. I was the only one at the park and stayed quite busy with weekend visitors and campers. After work I came home and started preparing food for Sunday's family reunion (my dad's side).

First Cousins and an Aunt

Charlene and I
(Charlene is an aunt on the Murry side of the clan.)

It was the first time of making the trip to the reunion without my husband; my friend, Melissa, was kind enough to ride along so I wouldn't have to make the 2 1/2 trip alone. I really appreciated having the company!

Melissa and I @ Greenton

After the reunion Amanda, Aaron, and Alysia, my cousin, Tara, and her girls, and Melissa and I ran out to the family cemetery to take a look around. I helped Tara locate her baby brother's grave and we spent a few more minutes visiting there.

Tara, Amanda, and I @ Greenton

After that, Amanda and her family and Melissa and I went and caught up with Pat (my mom's best friend from high school). It was wonderful reconnecting with her. She is an absolutely amazing woman and artist!

After we left Pat's we headed home. We stopped long enough at Butler to eat supper and make a quick stop at Walmart. We got home much later than expected, but it was a great, fun, and full day.

I slept in later than I wanted to this morning (was up during the night alot), then went out and did a few things at the park in the afternoon. Now, here it is, almost bedtime and I'm just now getting around to publishing today's post. Let's get on with it, shall we?

Hello September!

Thursday, September 1, 2022

Hello September!

August disappeared in a whirlwind of activity and, now, here we are, off and running into September!

September promises to be a full and busy month. I have a family reunion to attend this weekend, my oldest granddaughter is getting married next weekend, the weekend after that I will be working the local fair, and Prairie Jubilee will be held the last weekend of the month.

Granddaughter Esther @ Prairie Jubilee 2018

Usually, Prairie Jubilee is held on the last Saturday of the month on even-numbered years, but, due to COVID, it was cancelled completely in 2020, so it's been four full years since a Jubilee was held at Prairie State Park. Everyone is greatly looking forward to it!

I'm still in the middle of gearing up for a low-spend September, but feel that I'm off to a good start. I think I've got everything in the house grocery-wise that I should need except for possibly a few fresh items along the way. Other than that, the only things that I anticipate having to spend money for this month is putting gas in the car, paying the regular monthly bills, paying to the get the kittens fixed (spayed and neutered), and purchasing a baby gift for a friend. Unless something unexpected comes up, my focus this month will be to make and save as much money as possible.

I think I'm off to a good start. This morning I transferred $15.00 cash-back on purchases made through the gasoline app that I use to Paypal. From there I will have the money transferred into my bank and then into savings. (If you are interested in saving money on gasoline purchases, feel free to message me and I will send you the link to my invite code. That way we'll both save extra dollars at the pump!)

I did three loads of laundry this morning but have chosen not to run the dryer. I have hung the clothes on the back porch and am drying the towels and washcloths on a drying rack.

I'm planning September meals around food on-hand. I have a lot of frozen leftovers in the freezer and some older canned goods that need used up before purchasing more. As items are depleted, the plan is to restock with higher quality and more nutritious foodstuffs across the board.

I have decided to abandon every food plan that is not clearly based on Biblical teaching. I am currently rereading The Busy Woman's Guide to Healthy Eating by Emilie Barnes and Sue Gregg. I have Sue Gregg's complete cookbook set, as well. My husband bought them for me many years ago and it is the only food plan that he fully approved of. After much back, forth, up, down, and around (and after much soul-searching and prayer) I have decided, that, for me, this is the way to go, and that's what I'm doing.

Rather than constantly stressing about being overweight and failing, over and over again, at diet plans and the like, I will focus on simple foods, good nutrition, and overall health instead. Just in making that decision alone I feel freer, more clear-minded, less confused, and more focused than I have in nearly a decade.

I plan to share much more about my journey in this area and others in the days ahead, but for now, I'm out of time and must move on with my day. I hope that your day is going well and that your September is off to a beautiful start!

Until next time...

Thursday Things - August 18, 2022

Good Thursday afternoon! How your day been thus far? I hope you're having a good week.

Things are going well here. I've been working around the place most of the week and have actually accomplished much more than normal.

Anthony mowed Monday evening and I finished up the weed-eating. It's been so dry that I don't think we've had to mow for over a month now. If we don't get some good rain soon, I don't think we'll have to worry about it again for another month, at least. We've had brief showers of rain here and there, but nothing significant.

Dry Creek Bed on the Way to Work

Many area creeks and ponds are completely dry and it's getting harder and harder for everything out there to live. Between the effects of the heat and drought, I daresay, that it's going to be a rough winter for many...man and beast alike.

We lost, what I consider, an extended family member this week...my daughter-in-law, Angie's, Aunt Betty. She was a dear friend and quite a lady. She will be greatly missed and her absence in our town will be felt by all. God bless you, Aunty Betty! You were one of a kind and our family loved you very much!

Betty and My Grandson, Silas
She was definitely his biggest fan!

I checked the fluids, washed my car, and vacuumed it out this week. It was so dirty! With working on the gravel roads it gets that way. Soon I will make an appointment with the vo-tech school in Lamar for it's annual fall check-up. The boys at the school and their overseer have been my mechanics for years. They do a great job and for a fraction of the cost of anywhere else.

I delivered birthday greetings to two granddaughters yesterday, then went to the store. While I was in Lamar I ate lunch at Subway and visited with an old friend (she manages the store and my daughter, Amber, used to babysit her children). Anyway, it was nice to enjoy a leisurely lunch and catch up with her a bit.

Today I'm working in the kitchen. So far, I've made food to take to a friend and baked homemade bread. I've also made a fresh batch of hummingbird food and packaged up taco meat for the freezer. Before the day is done, I hope to wipe down the fridge and rearrange a cabinet or two. We'll see if that actually ends up happening or not!

Carla will be here soon, so I am going to go for now. Was just sitting down to rest for a moment or two and thought that I'd say hello. I hope that you're having a great day where you're at and I'll talk to you again soon.

Until next time...
