Scripture Study - Habakkuk 3:17-18

This morning's Bible study took me to Habakkuk 3. I took note of several things in this chapter, but verses 17 and 18 is what really stuck with me.

"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation."

In these verses Habakkuk proclaims with confidence the ultimate victory of all who live by faith in God. Does that include you?

"...the just shall live by his faith."
(Habakkuk 2:4)

Until next time...

Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - May 13, 2024

It's a rainy Monday morning here in southwest Missouri, but the weekend was absolutely gorgeous...sunny, mid-70's, and no storms! It was wonderful!

Peonies From My Garden

I hope all the mamas and grand-ma-mas out there enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day! Mine here was truly blessed!

I had sweet surprises coming in all week long...cards and gifts in the mail...various ones of the children and grands stopping by to visit and leave their offerings of love...time spent with precious family members.

Sweet Mother's Day Offerings

In addition to that I received many messages via text and messenger and was treated to strawberry shortcake and hot tea last night!

More Offerings of Love For Mother's Day

It was a lovely Mother's Day all the way around and, although I've failed and made many mistakes along the way, I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that I truly am blessed in every possible way!

A First-Time Sighting For Me - A Blue Grosbeak

After spending many hours on the phone battling with Rheme (and being without hot water for three weeks...again) the right parts finally arrived and Rudy was able to get my hot water tank fixed over the weekend. I am so thankful! I don't mind being without hot water...it's an inconvience, yes...but what I don't like is a company that makes a shoddy product and won't stand behind their word. This is the second Rheme hot water tank and the third or fourth time without hot water for a substantial length of time in the eight years lived in this house...and, always, it's just waiting for Rheme to honor their word and get the right parts to us. I will never again purchase another Rheme/Richmond product. There is surely another, more dependable, brand out there. Anyway...I'm sorry for complaining and so much for that!

Carla and I made it the Amish greenhouse on Tuesday. I purchased tomatoes, peppers, rosemary, a pretty red geranium, and celosia.

We had some great school groups come through last week at work. One little boy really touched my heart. At the end of our time together I asked him what his favorite part of the day was. He wrapped his arms around my waist and said, "Being with you!" So sweet! 💗

Because of deep water crossings and unmowed trails (due to all the rain we've had) we decided to confine Friday's wildflower hike to the quarter-mile loop. There was a great number of spring wildflowers in bloom there and I think everyone enjoyed it.

Wild Hyacinth, Spiderwort, and Indian Paintbrush

Well, the week has been full and I could ramble on forever, but the noon whistle just blew and the day is getting away from me. I better get on with today's post. Join me, won't you?

Happy Mother's Day 2024

Happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful and amazing moms out there! From those that are well-seasoned to those that are preparing to become mamas for the very first time and to everyone in between. To all the grandmothers and other special ladies (be you friend, aunt, or some other relation) who have been there, filled in, helped out, or have been a second mom to someone else in their hour of need. No matter who you are...if you have invested (or are investing) time, energy, resources, and talents into the future of a child...be not weary in doing so! You are so special! Don't ever allow people or circumstances to make you feel less-than, because what you're doing is important work. In fact, it's the most important work there is! May many blessings be yours today and always! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Until next time...

Birds of a Feather - May 8, 2024

I was on my way to work this morning when I got word that the school group that I was going in for had canceled. I could have went on in and worked on something else, but decided, instead, to head back home and get a few things done before granddaughters' come over this afternoon. I enjoyed taking the long way home, observing wildlife and mid-spring flowers along the way.

Here are a few of the birds that I observed on my way home...

Dickcissel

Mourning Dove

Savannah Sparrow

Killdeer

The cheerful song of the dickcissel makes it my favorite summer bird here on the tallgrass prairie of Missouri.  What's yours favorite summer bird and why?

 Until next time...

Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - May 6, 2024

Here in the southwest corner of Missouri, this past week has been wet and, at times, very wild!

Sirens blared as tornadoes hopped, skipped, and jumped their way across county lines. Dark clouds formed with multiple tails hanging down. The tails would twist and turn, then swirl their way back up into the darkened clouds above. From what I understand, there were, at least, two touchdowns in our immediate area.

Here is a picture that granddaughter, Audrey, took of what she and her family observed on their way home from Lamar on Thursday...

At the moment the sun is shining, but clouds are gathering and storms are expected to return this evening carrying over into the overnight hours. Please pray peace and safety over all that are within their paths.

Saturday turned out nice for 'Truman Days' and the 65th Anniversary of the Harry S Truman Birthplace State Historic Site in Lamar, MIssouri.

I was invited to teach cornhusk doll-making again this year.

I don't know how many dolls were made, but I know those that made them sure enjoyed doing so!

Now another busy week lies ahead and it's time to get started! Join me...won't you?

This week's master to-do list...

- Clean house

- Await the birth of a new granddaughter (she's due a week from today)

This week's menu plan...

Peonies

The peonies in my front yard are just now starting to bloom.

My grandmother had peonies back home and so did my mother-in-law. The peonies there bloomed much later than they do here. Both Grandma and my mother-in-law cut their peonies to decorate graves on Memorial Day.

Here the peonies bloom much earlier, I picked this one this morning before the ants move in.

Peonies are so pretty and they smell so good!

Do you have peonies growing in your yard?

Until next time...
