30 Days of Thanksgiving - Day 18 - Good Food

Today I am thankful for something that I think way too many people take for granted in this country and that's good food!

Today we served our annual 'Sunday-before-Thanksgiving' Thanksgiving dinner. It's a decade-long tradition that started when our youngest daughter married and we started spending our Thanksgiving Day in Kansas City with her and her husband. We would host the early Thanksgiving meal for my dad and a dear friend and neighbor. After my dad passed away my cousin joined us at the table as we continued to share the meal with our neighbor. Today's meal was served immediately after church. Our church family and a couple of our children and their families joined in sharing the meal with our neighbor, and my cousin was able to join us again, as well, for which I am very thankful! 💗

At the end of the day, when I was cooking the turkey carcass down, picking the last bit of meat off the bones, and bagging the good bone broth to put in the freezer, I couldn't help but think about how blessed we truly are. We have such an abundance of food. I have purposely been trying to reduce the amount of food in the freezer for weeks, but the more we use and give away, the more comes in!

I'm not complaining. I am astounded! We are so incredibly blessed in the area of good food and it's my heart's desire to, someday, be involved in a food ministry of some sort. In fact, I would love nothing more than to serve in a soup kitchen!

I've shared this before, but here's an interesting video on wasted food in the U.S. To watch click HERE.

Until next time,
~Rebecca
