This or That - Autumn Favorites

Anyone who knows me knows that autumn is my favorite time of year. In fact, I'm the girl that would be very happy living in a world of perpetual autumn...but, alas, there's no such thing. To take further advantage of the season, though, I saw one of these fun 'this or that' posts on someone else's blog and thought I'd share one here.

In these cozy months of fall, do you get excited about...

1. Pumpkin or caramel flavored everything?

2. Coffee or hot tea?

3. Sunny days outside or rainy ones inside?

4Crunchy leaves or mist rising from the water?

5. Movie nights inside or campfire nights outside?

6. Corn mazes or pumpkin patches?

7. Creamy soups or hearty stews in the crockpot?

And finally

8. Living in all things autumn or looking ahead to Christmas?

Please leave your responses in the comment section below and I will do the same. I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts about my favorite time of year!

Until next time...

Tuesday Tidbits - October 4, 2022

It's a lovely afternoon here in southwest Missouri....warm, 82 degrees, and sunny; by Thursday we're supposed to be in the mid-60's. I can hardly wait!

At present I'm semi-stranded at home without a vehicle (my car is at the mechanic and, hopefully, will be ready to be picked up tomorrow). In the meantime, I've busied myself on the home-front with cooking and baking. Thus far, I've made wheat bran muffins, Sue Gregg's Good Earth Rolls, and a crustless sweet potato pie.

Next, on the list is taco soup. I will have some for supper tonight and jar the rest in batches to be enjoyed on cooler days ahead.

The only other thing that I might make is a batch of baking powder bisuits. I have some milk that's just past the "best used by" date and biscuits would be a great way to use it up. The finished product can be frozen in single portions to be used with meals later on, as well.

That's what's going on in my world this afternoon. What's going on in yours?

Until next time...

Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - October 3, 2022

Good morning! Happy Monday and Happy October! 🧡

It's been a full and productive week and weekend here. I was able to mark all but two things off of my very long list from last week and the weekend was super nice!

Early Saturday morning Amber, my friend, Melissa, and I headed north to meet up with family back home and attend Missouri Town's 46th Annual Arts, Crafts, and Music Festival. It's always a treat and a great time was enjoyed by all!

Afterwards, Amber and Melissa and I drove out to one of my favorite old haunts...Sail Boat Cove on Lake Jacomo. It was such a beautiful fall day! Absolutely lovely! 🧡

Tuesday Tidbits - September 27, 2022

It was another cool morning here in southwest Missouri, but it's warming up. It's still cool enough, though, that I'm not having to run the air conditioner. I may have to turn a fan on this afternoon to circulate the air, but the doors and windows are open, and the breeze alone is enough for now.

I deep cleaned the bedroom yesterday, the bathroom this morning, and plan to work on the hallway this afternoon.

I'd like to decorate for fall, but with the kittens as active as they are, I dare not this year. I might select a few pieces from the fall tote that can't be easily damaged and maybe a few more that can be hung on the wall. Other than that, I better keep the rest packed securely away for some other day.

My youngest daughter called the other day with printer questions. In the process of helping her I checked my own settings and discovered that, due to the fact that I'm not printing nearly as much stuff as I used to before COVID (for programs at work) and when my husband was alive (ministry and writing) that I could cut my monthly instant ink charges in half, so I changed the settings and did. That inspired me! When I figure the budget and bills later this week, I plan on going over everything with a fine-toothed comb to see what other hidden areas I might be able to save money in.

Well, I better get busy. Lunch is over and the hallway awaits. I hope your day is going well and that you are accomplishing all that you had hoped to today.

Until next time...

Master To Do List and Menu Plan Monday - September 26, 2022

Good morning! Happy First Monday of Autumn 2022! 🍁

Here on the tallgrass prairie of southwest Missouri, big bluestem has reached its full potential and Indian grass, with its poofy plume, is headed out in full array. Fiery red sumac, yellow goldenrods, blue sage, and white and purple asters dot the prairie landscape, and we're right smack-dab in the middle of the monarch butterfly migration fly zone. The autumn season is in full swing!

It was a cool 47 degrees when I got up this morning and the week ahead looks to be absolutely gorgeous! Suddenly, however, there is an urgency to get the house weatherized and preparations made, because winter weather could be here much sooner than we think!

Rough Blazing Star

This past week has been super busy. The kittens took a trip to the vet on Tuesday to get spayed and neutered. The first night was pretty rough, especially on the little girl kitty, but, after that, they were back to their normal selves in no time and both are doing quite well.

My Sweet Tiger-Girl

The rest of the week was consumed with taking care of things on the home front, dealing with one minor emergency after another, and getting ready for Prairie Jubilee at work. Prairie Jubilee is Prairie State Park's premier celebration of the tallgrass prairie and is normally held every two years. However, due to COVID, the event was cancelled in 2020, so this was the first Jubilee to be held in four years. Other than being a little warm, it was a beautiful day on the tallgrass prairie and a good time was enjoyed by all.

Let's get started this morning on this week's post and take a look at the week ahead...shall we?

This week's master to do list...

- clean house
- do laundry
- deep clean the bedroom, bathroom, and hallway
- schedule an appointment with the mechanic to get an oil change and general check-up before winter

- start cleaning shed
- go shopping
- have tires rotated and balanced
- get new windshield wiper blades put on
- get together with family and friends
- answer a few letters
- work on articles for the 2022 Christmas Chronical (an annual family publication)
- work on fall and Christmas photography ideas and projects
- figure October budget and bills

Purple Aster

This week's menu plan...

Monday - Chicken ranch salad and breadsticks
Tuesday - Stuffed pepper casserole and brussels sprouts
Wednesday - Curry chicken over brown rice with salad
Thursday - Soup, salad, and homemade French bread
Friday - Turkey burger and oven fries
Saturday - Out
Sunday - Leftovers

Well, that's it for today. I hope your day is off to a lovely start and that the week ahead is a great one!

Until next time...
