Happy Homemaker Monday - November 5, 2018

Good morning, Sweet Ladies! Happy Monday! 💗

It's been another wild and crazy week here on the tallgrass prairies of southwest Missouri, but it's been a GREAT week (at least on most fronts)! One full of blessings, as well!

I got up super early this morning to look for one of my favorite autumn shirts (it was packed away, but I found it! 😊) then got to doing laundry and cleaning and lost track of time. Have to leave here in a bit so am going to skip the recap of last week and head right on into this week's post. I pray that it finds each and every one of you healthy, happy, and serving the Lord with gladness!

Today I'm joining Sandra and the other lovely ladies over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for Happy Homemaker Monday. Be sure to go over and check them all out! 💗

Right now I am...

... finishing up breakfast and enjoying my tea as a I write this post. From my office window I am
watching the approaching storm as it moves in from the west

Am thinking...

... about the holidays and can't wait to dig in and get started. Thanksgiving is coming right up and we've got less than five weeks before our family Christmas. It's time to get to crackin'! 😲

Christmas Decorations
Wrapping Paper and More

On the breakfast plate...

... chocolate chip and oat-bran muffins and a steaming hot cup of Twining's Irish Breakfast tea

The weather...

... Right now it's 46 degrees and, according to the weather map, there's a wall of water that extends from here (the Missouri/Kansas border) out past Wichita, so I'm guessing we're in for a fairly soggy morning. The high today is supposed to be 56 degrees and there's a possibility of seeing our first snowflakes come Thursday. Overall the forecast doesn't look too bad though. Highs in the 40's and 50's with lows in the 20's and 30's over the next ten days.

On my reading pile...

... Haven't had time to read a single page, so am still right where I was last week. Am still reading 5 Things Successful People Do Before 8 A.M. by Terri Savelle Foy, and The Buffalo Train Ride by Desiree Morrison Webber. To be honest, I am on the verge of abandoning the reading of both of these books...at least for now. I either need to dig in and get them finished for forget about them altogether. With Christmas coming I really want to focus my attentions elsewhere.

On the menu this week...

Monday - leftover chili and cornbread
Tuesday - meatloaf, mashed cauliflower, and steamed broccoli
Wednesday - creamy chicken and wild rice soup with homemade bread

Thursday - pasta, meatballs, sauce, and homemade bread

Friday -
broiled salmon, baked potato, and green beans
Saturday - homemade pizza
Sunday - leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - Plan the week ahead, do my weekly "home blessing", laundry, run errands, pay end-of-year taxes
- Tuesday - VOTE,
take down fall decorations, deep-clean kitchen, make holiday lists, start Christmas decorating (if time), work on Christmas cards while watching election returns on BVOVN
- Wednesday - Concentrate on moving toward the holidays
- Thursday - Work (Wild Cats of Missouri - Class #1)
-Friday - Work (Wild Cats of Missouri - Class #2
- Saturday - Work
- Sunday - Church

In the craft basket...

Pumpkin Butter Made From Leftover Carved Pumpkin
(Post Forthcoming)
Looking forward to this week...

... Voting in the mid-term election, writing and getting started on my Thanksgiving and Christmas to-do lists

Something interesting I watched this week...

... No time to watch anything this week.

From the camera...

Took this photo on my way to work Saturday morning...

  8. LOL! I'm not skipping Thanksgiving, Jean. I just don't have to do anything to prepare for it except drive to our daughter and son-in-law's in K.C. Once there I will help her prepare the food and stuff, but all the decorating is on her. Her and I have been exploring James Country. We drive up super early the day before Thanksgiving and go do something Jesse James-y. We've visited the Liberty Bank, the farm at Kearney, Jesse's grave, etc...this year we're going to the house in St. Joe. Then, we come home, cook like mad women and enjoy the evening visiting while we do so. The next day we have a great dinner and lots of fine company, then, usually, head down to the Plaza to see the lights. Then, Friday morning, she goes to work and we head home. It's a crazy wild time, but we have fun! :)
