Happy Homemaker Monday - July 8, 2019

Good morning, Dear Ladies! Happy Monday! 💗

I trust that each of you had a lovely week last week and are up and at 'em...ready to face the challenges of a brand new week head-on with renewed vitality and strength! 😃 (Or not. 😏 To be honest, I'm still a little worn out from the last one!) 😴

Tired out as I am, though, we did have a great week and weekend...one full of fun and celebrations! 🎂💗🎆🎈🎉

On Tuesday, my friend, Tracey, from back home (Blue Springs), came down for the day and we had a ball visiting and kicking around the prairie.

Tracey and I
Wednesday was spent preparing for the 4th of July. I thawed meat, made brownies, and prepared the jello used to make our traditional red, white, and blue jello cups. I've made this treat every year since our children were small and, now, I'm making it for the grandchildren! It's an annual treat that is enjoyed by all!

Our Traditional Red, White, and Blue Jell-O
Thursday, of course, was the 4th of July. We spent the day at our oldest daughter and son-in-law's and all but two of our children and their families were able to join us. We enjoyed a day of good food, family fellowship, lots of fun, and an evening of beautiful fireworks. It was a great holiday! 🎆🎇🎆

Friday morning, I rode to Kansas City with dd and the grands for Silas's latest leg appointment at the fracture clinic. He received a good report and we praise God for His awesome and amazing answer to prayer! Click HERE if you'd like to read the latest entry on Silas's Caringbridge site.

On the way home we stopped in and visited our daughter's brother- and sister-in-law who are home on furlough (missionaries to Russia) and had lunch with them.

Then, we scooted on down the highway in time for daughter to do some last minute shopping and put together a birthday dinner for their youngest son who happened to be celebrating his 8th birthday.

Grandson Isaiah (8)
Granddaughter, Abby, celebrated her birthday on Friday, as well. She and I will be enjoying our annual birthday outing later this week. 💗

I worked Saturday and Sunday afternoon...and, now, here we are...back around to Monday again! Let's get started on this week's post...shall we?

Please, join me as, I link up with Sandra of Diary of a Stay At Home Mom and all the other lovely ladies that gather there on this week's Happy Homemaker Monday. 💗

Right now I am...

... finishing up breakfast and enjoying a cup of hot tea while I work on this post.

I am also enjoying watching (and listening to) an area crop duster fly his small-engined plane over the field across from us. He swoops by, over and over again, as he moves into position to do the job that he is doing, apparently, just to our south and west.

Crop-dusting Plane
I grew up near a small airport and I love those small planes...especially the old bi-winged ones! The sound they make is music to my ears! 🛩

On the breakfast plate...

... THM sweatpants oatmeal with blueberries and hot tea

The weather...

... Hot, humid, and sunny. It's currently 78 degrees, but feels like 84. Today's high is supposed to be in the 90's, as is everyday forthcoming according to the ten-day forecast.

 On my reading pile...

Same as last week...in addition to daily Bible reading I am still reading Mother Culture by Karen Andreola, Interpreting Our Heritage by Freeman Tilden, and Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

My Reading Pile
On the menu this week...

Monday - Margarita Pizza 🍕
Tuesday - Potato soup and salad 🥣
Wednesday - Fish sandwiches and sweet potato fries 🐟
Thursday - Baked ham steak with fried cabbage and oven roasted carrots 🐖
Friday - Broiled salmon, baked sweet potatoes, and fresh green beans from the garden 🐟
Saturday - Dh's night to cook (generally pasta with sauce or butter and garlic...both are delicious!)  🍝 💓
Sunday - Leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - HHM post, plan the week ahead, home blessing, laundry
- Tuesday - Pick up John's new eyeglasses; celebrate granddaughter, Audrey's, 14th birthday; enjoy a belated birthday outing with grandson, Isaiah

- Wednesday - Enjoy my day off with nothing planned; work on projects around the house
- Thursday - Enjoy a belated birthday outing with granddaughter, Abby
- Friday - Work
- Saturday - Work
- Sunday - Church

In the craft basket...

... just keeping up with the temperature afghan on my end, but wanted to share this piece created and crocheted by our granddaughter, Audrey. She did such a good job on it!

Granddaughter, Audrey, created and crocheted this flag that was used
as a centerpiece on the holiday table. She did a great job on it!
Looking forward to this week...

... enjoying more birthdays and making memories with our grandchildren. 🎈🎂🎉

Something I enjoyed watching this week...

... our grandchildren enjoying the 4th of July...especially the little ones! 🎆🎇🎆
